CHAMBER WILL HOST SMALL BUSINESS COUNSELING SERVICES The Chamber will host a Small Business Counseling Workshop, Tuesday, July 1st for anyone interested in starting a business. Gene Osekowsky, Small Business Specialist with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center will schedule one-hour appointments from 9:00a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce. Topics will include personal considerations, business planning, and the components of a business plan, various options for financing, what lenders require and governmental requirements. All proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will be donated to the VA for fuel and maintenance costs of their transportation van. A special presentation ceremony will be held on July 4th at Country Cottage, in honor of all our veterans. Todd Didion, Industrial Specialist with STAR Physical therapy will present “Industrial Health-Injury Solutions.” Please RSVP to Becky Gustafson beckyg@starpt.org . **************************************************************** BBQ CHAMPIONSHIP COOK-OFF The Annual Tennessee State BBQ Cook-off Championship and 2008 Amateur Tailgate Cook-off will be held Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28 at Rotary Park in Lawrenceburg. Top teams in our region compete for the officially sanctioned Kansas City Barbecue Society State Championship. Sponsored by the Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club and several local businesses, cash and prizes valued at over $18,000 will be awarded. In addition to the pros, several contests are being held for the amateur outdoor chefs including Children’s Hotdog Championship, Backyard Cook’s Anything Goes and the Amateur Tailgate Cook-off Friday. Amateur entrants will also be judged on a combined score for chicken and ribs. Any Kiwanis Club member can get you or your business signed up for the amateur event.
