Dear Chamber Members:

I would like to personally thank each one of you for showing a willingness for serving your community by being involved in the Drug Coalition.
As you are aware I have been working on this project for the last year and have found that it is more than one person can do. This will take the community to get involved and it also needs a full time Director.  To date that has not been possible due to lack of funds but I have successfully secured a grant from the State of TN to hire a Director. There is still much work to be done before we receive the grant.
I am calling a meeting and hope to see all of you there on September, 15 at 5 pm at the old City Admin building.   This will be an organizational meeting to explain the steps that must be taken in order to receive the grant funds !
Thanks again for all your help and dedication to Lawrence County.

Rep. Barry Doss

A mentor training session is set for September 14th from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at First United Methodist Church. The training is required for anyone wanting to become a mentor but also open to anyone in the community. The training includes childhood development and how that impacts a person's future relationships and careers, how to understand other people's perspective, developing effective communication skills, building trust, mentoring, and how faith is about building relationships not church memberships. This training will benefit business leaders, ministers, parents, guardians, or anyone that serves youth or adolescence.  The class is free and there is no pressure to become a mentor if you attend. Call Steve Seaton at 931-244-0945.

The Lazy 8s Square Dancers and Line Dancers are seeking new members.  Couples and singles are welcome.  The group meets monthly on the first three Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00pm in the basement of the Lawrence County Senior Citizen Center.  If you only wish to line dance you can do that however, you may soon pick up on square dancing too.   The Senior Center is located at 220 Centennial Boulevard in Lawrenceburg.  Enter the basement by following the sidewalk that separates the Center from the Criminal Justice Center.   Come and enjoy fun and good exercise.
