Leadership Graduates Recognized, 2016-17
Signups Underway

and Reunion Event Planned

What do Rick Benson of First Farmers & Merchants Bank, Sandy Calvert of Lawrenceburg’s Senior Citizens Center, and Lorie Pettus Jones of Graphic Packaging have in common?
These three and many more are graduates of Leadership Lawrence County, a program sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce designed to inform and inspire residents in their individual leadership roles. The alumni group includes business owners, employees of non-profits and for-profits, longtime volunteers and elected officials.
Participants meet once a month for nine months, getting to know one another and learning more about every aspect of the community. This year, the program graduated its 25th class (see related photos).
In honor of that milestone, the Chamber is hosting a reunion event for adult graduates of Leadership Lawrence County. The gathering will be held Tuesday, October 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Providence Hall on the Lawrenceburg Square. The event is free for adult graduates and one guest. Reservations are required, and can be made by calling the Chamber at 931-762-4911.
Chamber Leadership Program Director Beth Keaton says the business-casual event’s goals are to give participants the opportunity to reconnect with their own group, and get to know other graduates. Participants will be recognized with others from “their” year.
“We want to celebrate the fact that for 25 years, Leadership Lawrence County has been educating and encouraging people to play an active part in our community,” Keaton said. “We want the reunion to be a fun event that recognizes the Leadership program’s impact on Lawrence County, and on the people who complete it.”
Applications are now being accepted for the 2016-17 class, set to begin this September. To learn how to be part of the 26th class, call Beth Keaton at 931-762-4911.
