CHAMBER NEEDS MEMBERS TO HELP US MEET THE MENTOR CHALLENGE

Tennessee Commissioner of Economic and Community Development Randy Boyd has challenged all chambers with "The Mentor Challenge" to help support Governor Haslam’s Drive to 55.

Lawrence County successful recruited 78 tnAchieves mentors to support last year's high school seniors and we need all of you to help us meet this year's goal of 70.

tnAchieves mentor applications are now available for the 2016 graduates.    A mentor’s job is to get their students enrolled in higher education. Mentors will be pared with 3 to 5 students and  it only “cost” about one hour per month. Yet, that one hour has a positive impact on the lives of our students.   Mentors currently enrolled and working with the 2015 graduates must re-apply to mentor the upcoming high school seniors
(tnachieves.org).

The “MR Challenge”   (Mentor Recruiting)
Three chambers will win a visit from Commissioner Boyd to an event of the chamber’s choice. The winners will be:

  • The first chamber to reach its goal (https://tnachieves.org/dashboardwill tell your goal)
  • The most mentors recruited by a small city / county chamber (county population less than 50,000)
  • The most mentors recruited by a large city / county chamber (county population more than 50,000)

Information on how to become a mentor can be found at
tnachieves.org.   When a mentor signs up, noting the Lawrence County Chamber as your source will give us “credit” for your commitment.

We also encourage you to contact tnAchieves Director of Community Partnerships Graham Thomas  (
